About us
We would rather tell you what housing cannot do than promise what it can.
Preferred Housing Solutions is an independent shared-housing company working in Raleigh and Wake County, North Carolina. We are not a facility, a treatment program or a placement agency — and saying so plainly is the most useful thing we can do for the professionals and families who contact us.
Who we are
A small company with a specific job.
We connect three groups who rarely get to talk to each other before decisions are made: the professionals who understand difficult housing needs, the adults who need to live somewhere, and the property owners whose buildings make it possible.
Most shared-housing websites begin with a room. We begin with a question: who is finding it hard to find appropriate housing, and why? That answer shapes which properties we pursue — and sometimes tells us we should not pursue one at all.
Our operating focus is Wake County and the surrounding Triangle, with planned expansion into Charlotte, Fayetteville and Greenville. We do not claim coverage we have not built.
Scope
What we do, and what stays with someone else.
Knowing where our responsibility ends is how a placement holds. These are honest boundaries, not disclaimers.
We do
- Provide independent, nonmedical shared housing
- Explain costs, terms and house expectations up front
- Document requirements before recommending an option
- Review accommodation requests against a specific property
- Work with agencies on what they actually need
We do not
- Provide medical treatment, nursing or personal care
- Offer clinical case management or behavioral-health services
- Provide supervision, monitoring or custodial care
- Approve addresses for parole, probation or release
- Operate a correctional facility or emergency shelter
- Guarantee placement, funding or availability

Preferred Housing Solutions is Marine-veteran-led. The standard we hold to is a simple one: tell people what is true about a housing option before they make a decision on it, and say so when the answer is that we cannot help.
