For Agencies

Reentry Organizations & Probation/Parole Teams

Housing is one of the hardest pieces of a reentry plan, and address approval is usually the pinch point. We welcome conversations with reentry organizations and supervision teams about timelines, address approval and what a workable housing arrangement looks like.

The housing challenge

Why this problem is harder than it looks

Housing is one of the hardest pieces of a reentry plan, and address approval is usually the pinch point. A workable address can be the difference between a plan that holds and one that collapses in the first fortnight — and the approval process is often the thing nobody documented in advance.

This is an agency pathway

We welcome this conversation. It documents what your community needs and how a partnership could work — it is not a placement request, and a referral does not authorize payment.

Our process for your setting

Four steps, and what each one produces.

This is the same sequence we use with every partner — the questions change, the structure does not.

  1. 1

    Understand local housing needs

We document the counties, household sizes, formats and gaps you actually see.

  2. 2

    Document requirements

What your process requires before a destination is approved, and who is authorized.

  3. 3

    Develop suitable arrangements

Properties, terms and responsibilities worked through against the documented requirements.

  4. 4

    Coordinate documented next steps

A named owner, a next action and a due date on the record — followed up rather than assumed.

Practical checklist

Five things to prepare.

Work these through internally first. If you bring them to a first call, the conversation gets twice as far.

  • 01Identify the counties participants most often need to reside in
  • 02Collect the address-approval requirements your supervision partners apply
  • 03Note typical release timelines and how much notice you get
  • 04Check room formats and household arrangements against approval rules
  • 05Document affordability and available payer categories up front

What we will ask

About your requirements

  • Counties your participants most often need to reside in
  • Typical release timelines and how much notice you get
  • Room formats and household arrangements that work
  • Affordability ranges and available payer categories
  • Your address-approval process and who holds approval authority
  • Documentation your program expects, and at what point
  • How you handle participant choice in the housing decision

Independent, nonmedical housing

This housing model does not include personal care, clinical treatment, medication management or supervision. Outside supports are arranged independently where appropriate. Accommodation requests receive individualized review — we do not apply blanket exclusions based on disability or the use of assistive devices.

Outside supports

What housing does not cover.

We do not make eligibility determinations on your behalf and do not provide supervision, monitoring or case management. Those remain with your program, and program requirements are documented before any housing discussion advances.

Questions

Answers for your setting.

If your question is not here, ask it directly. We answer approved public information and route everything else to the person who can.

Ask a question
Do you handle address approval?

No. Address approval is held by the supervising authority. We provide accurate property details so your team and the participant can work through approval, and we document what a property can confirm.

What if a participant has a condition we cannot meet?

We would rather know early. Our shared housing model is independent and nonmedical, so supervision, monitoring and programming stay with your team. Where a requirement cannot be met, we say so directly.

Can you hold a room while approval is pending?

No. We do not hold housing against a pending decision, and we would not want you to rely on one being held. What we can do is give you accurate information so the approval process is not delayed by missing detail.

What we do not guarantee

We do not guarantee beds, funding, referrals, occupancy, placement or discharge outcomes. A referral does not guarantee acceptance, and acceptance does not confirm funding. What we do commit to is a documented process, a named owner on your inquiry and an honest answer — including when the answer is that we are not the right fit.

Start with a housing-needs conversation.

No commitment, and no placement promised — just a structured conversation about what your team actually needs.
